Interview

1. How long have you been playing music and how did you first get started?

I have been playing guitar since I was maybe seven or eight. My father used to play. I grew up around a lot of music, so it was always something I wanted to do.

2. You used to play in a band called the Big Mighty. Can you tell us what that was like?

I played with the Big Mighty for two and a half years. I love those guys. They are an awesome band. I miss them much of the time, but I know what my calling is right now. We are all still great friends. I even play in a side project every Tuesday night with Adam Hatfield, the lead guitar player and John Watkins, the keyboard player. Playing with The Big Mighty was a great experience and I wouldn't change it for the world.

3. What are your current musical projects?

I am playing solo a good bit. I also play with some guys every Tuesday night in Augusta, GA at a club called the Surrey Tavern. We call the Tuesday night show, "The Tuesday Night Music Club." I am playing Bass with a few projects and I fill in with bands a time or two a week. However, I am still writing songs. I love writing. It is my passion.

4. Do you like playing acoustic or do you prefer full band better?

I just enjoy playing music. It is that simple. I like playing acoustic a lot, and I do most of the time. However, I do enjoy playing electric guitar and bass as well. Playing with a band is great because there is a camraderie with the musicians on stage. You can feed off one another. It does not matter what format of music or what instrument I play, as long as I can play music, I will be happy.

5. You currently have gone back to school. Where are you going and what is your major?

I am currently going to Augusta State University. It is part of the University of Georgia system. I wanted to come off the road and go to school in my own home town. While I do miss the band, I am enjoying school. It is a great constant in my life. I am doing pretty well. I just like the idea of having something to fall back on.

6. What are your plans after graduation?

I still have quite some time until graduation. I think I am looking at about four more years of school. I am looking at business as an option. There is only one problem. Graduation is a long way away. There is a lot I am planning to do with music before I even finish school. I am trying not to look to far in to the future, but just to enjoy what I am doing now and work hard to do what makes me and the people around me happy. I never want to let the people that have supported me down. So, I am planning on recording a new album. It has been along time coming.
